Warm Weather Cuticle Care

You may have strayed away from your mani-pedi routine during winter, but as the season comes to an end it's time to whip those nails back into shape. If you've skipped a few sessions at the nail salon, your cuticles are probably in rough shape. You might not pay much attention to that small layer of skin at the bottom of your nail, but it plays an important role. Your cuticle protects the new cells that eventually become your nail. If you take care of your cuticles, you'll have longer, stronger nails. Check out these tips to revive your cuticles this spring.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Winter zaps moisture from your skin, including your cuticles, which is why you should moisturize them regularly. Dab a small amount of hand lotion on each cuticle and work it in to keep them healthy. You can also purchase special cuticle moisturizers.

Use a cuticle remover, if needed

If your cuticles are rough, thick or overgrown, a cuticle remover can wipe the slate clean. Soak your fingers in warm water for a few minutes before you apply the cuticle remover. The solution will soften your cuticles, allowing you to push them back with a cuticle stick. You should remove any leftover white skin on your nail too.

Don't cut your cuticles

Yes, our manicurist may trim your cuticles, but it's not something you should try by yourself. You could seriously damage your nail and the surrounding skin if you don't know what you're doing, so leave this part to our trained nail technician.

Now you're ready for the season's first mani-pedi. Call us at and make an appointment to dress up those cuticles with a trendy pastel color today.
